Day 17 Aug. 16

Santa Fe to Albuquerque

Total Miles 75 plus 6 miles to go Sight Seeing

To sum up the ride today would be specularly Scenic.

The route took us out of Santa Fe on State Road 14 then picked up I-40 and ran parallel to the interstate till we reached Albuquerque where we left route and just followed old Hwy 66 on Central BLVD. to the hotel.

Towns on the route:

  • Santa Fe
  • Cerrillos
  • Madrid
  • San Antonito
  • Tijeras
  • Albuquerque

The funny sign today was special event ahead watch for flag man and be prepared to stop.  Having never seen that before we wondered turned out to be movie filming.

Had only one rude driver today who going down a steep hill into a bend beeped at us.  Kind of silly we were doing 30 into a 40 mph bend with a shoulder that was uncertain and rocky.  I guess he did not want to wait 1 minute to see what was ahead.

Then there was one idiot who passed uphill with a solid line and that again drove oncoming traffic on the shoulder.  I guess there were two fools today.

Albuquerque seems old and I saw a lot of people who looked down on their luck peoples.  At one stop light saw two people arguing about their daughter. Also seems like some of beggars are now dancing weird at the stop lights to encourage people to give money.

After checking in the Motel we then decided to go to the Albuquerque Botanical Aquarium and Gardens.  It was great and no one beeped at us.

Statues outside of Santa Fe (note that is really big horse)

Comments

  1. Love the monkey/ape statue. Any history or explanation? Things are dry and the building is moving along. Your next door neighbor had windows and doors installed this weekend. Travel safe.
